On November 18, 1954, the Los Angeles Sentinel carried a full page of photos from the Bal Masque, a formal costume ball hosted by Les Dames social club. “The scintillating glitter of the satin gowns set the pace of the evening that marked the fifth annual Bal Masque, one of the most beautiful,” the Sentinel reported.
