On August 14, 1947, the Los Angeles Sentinel welcomed six national conclaves who were holding meetings in the City of Angels: Zeta Phi Beta sorority, Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, National Medical Association, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Golden West Bridge Association, and Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. The agenda for the Zeta meeting included “support of national and state FEPC (Fair Employment Practices Committee) measures, anti-lynching and anti-poll tax bills, [and] legislation for equal educational opportunities throughout the south.” (Click to view article PDF.)
