On January 4, 1936, the front page of the Baltimore Afro-American featured a large picture of Yulisse McMurdock Stoby with the heading “Temple Co-Ed Secretly Weds.”  The caption noted that Stoby, a junior at Temple University and the niece of a Philadelphia doctor, married a dental student from McGill University in June 1935.
