On December 9, 1948, the Los Angeles Sentinel included an advertisement from the House of Records (631 1/2 East 42nd Street) encouraging readers to “order your Xmas records by phone...any record you hear over the radio broadcast we have them!” The advertisement featured a wide range of R&B, blues, jazz, and gospel music by artists.
