On December 23, 1934, the Atlanta Daily World ran a notice that the Ex-Slave Association was holding its twentieth anniversary meeting. The article noted that the “object of the Association is to see that none of the Ex-slaves and aged colored people of the city and county will suffer for the necessities of life during their closing days.”
