On September 23, 1950, the Cleveland Call and Post featured an editorial cartoon by Robert S. Pious. The cartoon, which ran three months after the start of the Korean War, commented on the employment discrimination black veterans faced when they returned from war. Under the heading “Will Korea Open the Door?,” the cartoon depicted an ex–Negro GI being turned away from a job by “American Born Fascism.”
